How to add chapters to a podcast MP3

Updated 29 October 2026

Chapters are named points in an episode. Apps that support them show a list so listeners can skip to the part they want.

  1. Chapters from your clipsIn Vandcast every clip on the story lane becomes a chapter by default, named after the clip. Name your clips as you want the chapters to read.
  2. Or set your own markersAdd markers on the timeline where each chapter should begin and name them. Markers replace the automatic list.
  3. ExportChapters are written into the MP3 together with the title, show, artist, episode number and cover art.
  4. Check in a playerPlay the file in an app that supports chapters to see the list. Support varies, but players that do not support them just ignore them.

Tip: Short, clear names work best: what the part is about, not Part 2.
